Our Approach
At Orton Academy, we take pride in our approach to reading therapy. We understand that every child is unique and requires personalized attention to meet their needs. Our teachers are experienced in working with children who have dyslexia and know how to support their struggles through targeted interventions and supports. We believe that dyslexic children are smart and creative and strive to teach to their strengths.
Built-In Daily Therapy
We provide appropriate reading therapy that sets us apart from other programs. Our students aren’t pulled out of important core curriculum, specials or recess in order to receive the reading therapy they need. Instead, all students receive built-in therapy throughout their day. Our teachers understand dyslexia and work tirelessly to incorporate strategies into the entire day, not just during reading therapy sessions.
Supporting the Whole Child
At Orton, parents can rest assured that we are supporting the whole child. Often, before arriving at Orton, students don’t receive the support that they need in a traditional educational setting and become distrustful of the education system – this can manifest as disruptive behaviors, with students acting out due to frustration or becoming disengaged with their education. Additionally, not receiving the support that they need can result in low self-esteem and lack of confidence in an academic setting. At Orton, we focus on building confidence and trust, allowing our students to fully blossom, make friends and feel successful in their academic career.
